Lupo

Inspired by the bustle and vibrancy of a traditional Italian marketplace, Lupo is situated in the heart of downtown Banff. The open-concept dining room has streetscape finishes reminiscent of an outdoor Italian street market and an airy aesthetic thanks to vaulted ceilings and expansive, floor- to-ceiling windows that overlook the bustling streets of Banff.

To complement Lupo’s lineup of hand-made Italian dishes — reminiscent of traditional trattoria fare — the restaurant’s design is inspired by an outdoor Italian street market. The decor emphasizes the casual eclecticism of Italian markets with striped awnings, antique lamp posts and iron-clad balconies with cascading plants. These decor features are accompanied by stunning mountain vistas beyond the expansive windows.

Lupo’s on-display kitchen stations showcase the talented chefs as they hand-stretch pizza dough, roll fresh pasta and grill tender meats and seafood. While the service bar displays an abundance of charcuterie offerings and gives a bustling, animated scene of service staff hard at working pulling wines, putting together charcuterie boards and serving guests along the counter, signalling this place is all about good food and great company.

If Lupo’s furniture and decor was described as food it would be bold and flavourful. This is seen through details like a variety of experiential seating layouts that can be cozy and intimate or loud and bustling, with custom banquette sections that have unique detailing including hand-crafted mosaic tile. Bordering on garish, playful wayfinding signage nods to Italian street market signs, furthering the eclectic flavour of this space.
