repurposed elements
The transformation of Surfy Surfy Bar from a previous restaurant space involved a sustainable and cost-effective approach by repurposing existing infrastructure. The design boasts blonde wood as a backdrop, accented with artisanal craftsmanship. Key features include a newly installed service bar, casual seating arrangements, and a striking 10-foot-high rope-work installation created by a local textile artist, which adds a unique, grounded element to the space. The attention to detail in the interior design, from dark wood louvers on street-facing windows to plaster and terracotta materials, creates an escapist, coastal ambiance.
1970’S inspiration
The inspiration for Surfy Surfy Bar lies in the nostalgic, golden era of SoCal surfing, particularly the 1970s. The space is adorned with surf artifacts and bespoke art installations that reflect the experiences of surfers from around the world. These elements, along with carefully chosen photographs and mementos, are interwoven into the design, creating a narrative that celebrates the spirit of surf culture and the laid-back, carefree lifestyle associated with it.
