The approach
Panorama Mountain Resort
This project involves one of the original hotels at Panorama Mountain Resort, located at the base of the main high-speed quad chair, Mile 1, and nestled in the heart of the village. The hotel, integral to the resort’s history, serves as a gateway for adventure seekers and vacationers. The client’s vision was to transform this establishment into a ‘mountain modern’ property that encapsulates the adventurous spirit of Panorama while maintaining an inviting and functional atmosphere for groups of all sizes.
comfort meets practicality
The client’s inspiration for this renovation was to create a basecamp for adventure that felt approachable. The design aimed to be functional yet fun, simple yet authentic, mirroring the essence of Panorama. This vision was achieved by incorporating elements that catered to both comfort and practicality. The design emphasizes a bold palette and modern amenities, ensuring that the property resonates with the spirit of adventure and hospitality.
inspired by nature
Three standout elements of the design reflect the project’s inspiration. Firstly, each room features a large black-and-white photograph in a mural format, showcasing bold images of the surrounding mountains taken from a helicopter, connecting guests to the natural beauty of the area. Secondly, the guest rooms are tailored for adventurers, with ample storage, gear hooks, and plush beds. Additionally, the Fireside Café within the building offers fantastic coffee, enhancing the overall guest experience. Thirdly, the custom-designed bunk rooms, which can accommodate up to six guests with a single bed over a queen, provide a unique and practical lodging option for larger groups.
elevated guest experience
A particularly interesting aspect of this project was the challenge of renovating two buildings, encompassing 125 rooms, during the off-season to be ready for a major international ski competition in early November 2022. This ambitious timeline required meticulous planning and execution. The hotel’s amenities, including hot tubs, saunas, a small fitness facility, and ski lockers, enhance the guest experience. Additionally, the Alto Pizza restaurant, featuring a high-end pizza oven and a bar, and the Fireside Café, with its incredible coffee and kitschy interior art, provide visitors with convenient and enjoyable dining options.
